My name is Jeannette Chavez and I am a mother, a baker and the founder of Sweet Dough. I was born and raised in NYC and currently live in Miami, FL.
My obsession with baking/decorating began about 7 years ago when a friend (a pastry chef) needed some assistance with a 5-tier wedding cake. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, I attempted the challenge. It was not an easy task; I worked all night, mainly rolling gum paste balls for the borders of all five tiers… long story short, it was one of the longest nights of my life, but one that marked my future forever.
That night was the beginning of my crazy, fun, can’t live without baking, creating, decorating world of sweets.
Several months later, I made the huge decision to quit my job as an administrator for a health insurance company and took a job as my friends’ assistant. However, still unsatisfied and thirsty for knowledge, I enrolled at Johnson & Wales University and began my coursework for a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts.
